Please ask our councillors and mayor to stand with us, and to support us

[We’ve moved to www.willowpond.ca. Please visit our new website.]

I’m (Peter) getting a lot of emails and phone calls from lots of places today. My facebook page is full of supportive and encouraging messages. It is very encouraging.

But, especially if you are from Clarington, would you please help by calling our Mayor and local councillor? Ask them to support us on council, and to stand with the Jaworskis. Be friendly (the lady who picks up the phone is a sweetheart, so be nice). And remember that they’re not responsible for our troubles, and they can be a great help.

Gord Robinson is our Ward 4 representative. Jim Abernethy is our mayor.

The main switchboard for the Municipality of Clarington: 905-623-3379.

Ask to speak with councillor Gord Robinson, and then with Mayor Jim Abernethy.

You can also contact all of our local councillors via email (or through a phone call to the same above number), by clicking over to the bio website of our council here. Emails are available under each bio.

Thank you so much.

I live in Guatemala. We have limited liberty on many things, but the persecution of individuals who present valid, rational, logical ideas is not one limit! Yes, our all encompassing governments do use oppression to curtail commercial and economic liberties…, but curtailing ideas under the guise of zoning laws? Ingenious…

Why would the fine have been levied without prior warning of the possible violation, giving this family an opportunity to correct the infraction? The issue of whether or not this is an acceptable bylaw is another concern but the handling of the charges in this case is simply overbearing and excessive. Is this the usual manner in which this municipality deals with bylaw transgressions? It strikes me as if this is nothing more than bureaucratic intimidation and harrassement on an institutionalized scale. Certainly the mayor and councilors can or could have intervened. They would have had the power to intecede before this direct enforcement action was taken. This is a most blatant overreaching of bureaucratic power and civic authority should not be permitted to act in this manner.
